"Social media" is a platform which has made careers of many people and has also destroyed careers of many. Nowadays each and every student has got access to a smartphone and with that they install social media applications and spend half of their day in that. They remain detached from their friends and family and stick to their mobile phones like a magnet. Students should realise that if they feel that spending more than 10 hours of their day on social media is not at all 'cool' but it is a foolish act which one must avoid. Students all over the world instead of dedicating their time and energy on studies and playing outdoor sports are just completely ruining their lives by gluing themselves to social media and if they do not stop this right now it will surely be too late for them. I am not refraining students from not using social media platforms but it is very important for them to realize that everything on this planet has a limit to which it can be used and if they try to breach this limit sooner or later they will find themselves addicted to social media and ruining their lives. Using social media for 1-2 hours every day is still acceptable to some extent but to allow social media to take charge on your life is not at all acceptable. Students have to realise the need of balancing their studies, sports and social media usage , because over usage of anything would lead to distractions in the other two.                                               Let's begin with today's blog on that note.

  • KEEP YOUSELF BUSY IN DOING SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE:
The best way to get rid of social media is by keeping yourself busy throughout the day. If you feel that social media has started taking control over you life then from the very next day start doing productive things like morning walks, cooking, gardening, playing outdoors, studying, writing articles/blogs or any other thing which looks productive to you. Keep away your phone/laptop away from your sight. During the first 2-3 days when you try this out it will be really tough for you to not take a look at your mobile phone but trust me if you start practising this it will surely work wonders for you. I guarantee you that. Doing productive things will also indulge you into thinking and reacting in a positive manner more over it will help you gain self-control and self-belief in yourself that you can give up bad habits and do something productive in your life.

 


KEEPING YOURSELF BUSY THROUGHOUT THE DAY HELPS YOU TO NOT OVERTHINK AND AT THE SAME TIME ALSO ALLOWS YOU TO INCREASE FOCUS IN YOUR EVERY DAY LIFE.



  • PUT TIME RESTRICTIONS ON SOCIAL MEDIA APPS:

If you fail to keep yourself busy during the day or fail to do anything productive instead of studying and playing outdoors and feel that you can't get out of the social media you can try to put time restrictions across all social media platforms on your mobile phone. And try to keep 'FOCUS MODE' activated on your mobile phone for more than 12 hours during your initial days of practice. Don't try to remove these restrictions after one or two weeks as you might get into the habit of using social media again. The best way in which you can follow this is by constantly reminding yourself that there are restrictions imposed by you on your phone and breaching those restrictions would lead to a major dip in your self-belief to get rid of bad habits. 


USING FOCUS MODE HELPS YOU TO GET RID OF THE TENDENCY OF PEEPING INTO YOUR PHONE TO CHECK NOTIFICATIONS, MEMES, REELS ETC.





  • SPEND QUALITY TIME WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY:
It is very important for the youth of today to understand that there exists a world outside outside their mobile phone screens and laptops. It is very important for them to realise that family and friends are the only ones in the world with whom they can share their thoughts comfortably without the fear of thinking whether one will be offended or not. They should understand the importance of family and  friends because many students in this world do not have complete families or many do not have friends. That is why they should respect their family and friends. Engaging with friends and family can also help them to get rid of social media addiction. They can organise get-togethers, house parties, watch movies, play outdoors and do many other things to stay close to their family and friends and get rid of social media. If  students completely isolate themselves from their friends and family they may start feeling depressed and might start feeling that the entire world is against them. Trust me this does happen because I myself have gone through this. So treasure your family and friends and try to spend more time with them in order to get rid of social media addiction.


SPENDING TIME WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY HELPS YOU TO COPE WITH STRESS AND ANGER ISSUES.
