HAPPY READING!

In today's mad world every student is running in a race which has no finishing line, the race in which they are running is the race towards excellence and a race aiming at becoming perfectionists. There is stiff competition in each and every field of work irrespective of it being related to studies, sports or other talents such as singing, dancing etc. The limit of competition is not limited to schools, colleges, workspace, business etc. but it also has crept into families. There are many students in this world who have to face competition from their elder siblings in their family in terms of studies, sports and other co-curricular activities. This sort of competition is mostly prevalent in Indian families where more often than not a child is compared to his elder siblings and it is always expected that the junior child will follow the same steps as his elder siblings in order to be more successful than his elder sibling. I do not disagree from the fact that competition is necessary in order to increase a persons efficiency in their work, but at the same time I am always against competition taking over one's dreams to do what they actually want to do.

So without any further ado let's cut straight into today's blog where I'll be sharing 2 points on why competition is necessary for a student and 2 points as to why competition is harmful for a student.

First let's talk about the positives of competition among students:

  • HELPS IN IMPROVING EFFICIENCY:
It is very important that competition exists among students as it helps them to increase their efficiency i.e. their studying capability. Now it is very important that a student takes competition in the positive sense wherein he/she finds an opportunity to better themselves and to make a name for themselves in this competitive world. It is very important for a student to have self-confidence and at the same time they must also have adequate faith in themselves that no matter whatever the future they will continue to improve themselves and work harder every day to accomplish their goal and at the same time they must also think that with grit and determination they will surely be able to accomplish their goal no matter how much competition they have to face for doing so. And when a student understand these things and understand that he/she is working hard to be at the top ,no one can stop them from becoming number1 in their field of work. For this a 'healthy competition' must exist among students.

ONCE YOU UNDERSTAND THE NEED OF COMPETITION YOU BECOME MUCH MORE SELF-AWARE AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WORK ON YOUR WEAKNESSES SUCH THAT THEY DON'T RESULT IN YOUR DOWNFALL.

  • COMPETITION HELPS YOU TO BECOME A BETTER VERSION OF YOURSELF:

Competition will surely help you to become better each day but only if you choose to become better. A healthy competition among students would surely inspire a student to do their best- not just good enough. When students compete they will become more inquisitive, research independently and will learn to work more with others. They will always strive to go for the extra mile and will try to give their 200% effort in whatever they do. These abilities of never giving up and working hard will not only help a student in their present but will also will prepare them for more such future situations of all kinds. It is also very important for parents, coaching institutions and formal education institutions to teach students valuable lessons about competition and they must also provide them with a method of facing competition. Competition also helps a student in identifying their weaknesses and hence makes them think about various ways in which they can find a way to overcome their weakness as a student. That way win or lose a student will always learn, grow and will be better prepared about the other hardships they might face in their future.

NOT ONLY DOES COMPETITION HELP IN CREATING WINNERS BUT AT THE SAME TIME IT ALSO HELPS IN DEVELOPING INVALUABLE QUALITIES OF LIFE IN A PERSON WHICH WOULD SURELY HELP THEM IN BECOMING BETTER IN THE FUTURE AND WOULD ALSO INCREASE A PERSON'S PRODUCTIVITY IN THEIR WORK.

Now let's talk about the negatives of competition among students:

  • INFINITE STRESS:
In the process of becoming the best in the world many students often cross all limits of hard work and start working all day and night for achieving their goal this takes a great toll on their mental health and none of them realise this. Everyone in this world is just working madly towards becoming the best and at the same time to fight out competition from an infinite people. It is because of this that many people have health complications in old age because they have a habit of over-pressurising themselves in order to become the best and to fight out competition.

MANY REPORTS SHOW THAT COMPETITIVE BEHAVIOUR AND STRIVING TO AVOID INFERIORITY ARE LINKED WITH DEPRESSION, ANXIETY AND SELF-HARM.

  • LOWER SELF-ESTEEM:
Competition often leads to low self-esteem because among students only those are awarded who achieve higher and good marks and there is no adequate appreciation for those who do not stand out of the crowd there is no one who is there to appreciate or motivate such students to bounce back and do better the next time. Such a condition makes a student lonely and many a times a student is forced to move out of his peer group in view of his/her inefficiency. Many a times certain parents who instead of supporting their children start comparing them with others to make them realise about how much below average they are.

COMPETITION PULLS DOWN A PERSON'S SELF-ESTEEM TO SUCH LOW LWVELS THAT THEY MAY START  SAYING CRITICAL AND NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT THEMSELVES AND THEY MAY AS WELL START UNDERESTIMATING THEMSELVES.

So with that I put a full stop to today's blog hope this blog helped in enlightening you about the necessity of competition among students.

I would like to end today's blog by saying:

"YOU ARE YOUR BIGGEST COMPETITION."

THANK YOU❤️❤️
